Fly Fishing Guide Services
I have been fishing the Lower Laguna since I was a child, and fly fishing my home waters since the mid-70s. I moved away from south Texas as an adult, but returned in 1999, and have been guiding ever since.
As a fly fishing-only guide, I use the best fly fishing skiff in the world--a NewWater Boatworks Stilt. Having the lightest and shallowest skiff in creation, I prefer to have only one or two clients on board. I have found that guiding two anglers instead of three preserves the skiff’s high performance on plane and while poling, thus resulting in a higher quality experience.

The cost for an eight-hour day on the water is $550, while the cost of a six-hour day is $450. You can use my fly rods if you’d like, and I provide water and drinks, and flies where needed. But you need to bring your own lunch and snacks.
I do not scrimp on time, so if you hire me for a whole day, and we are “on fish” at the end of eight hours, we will stay on the water. My goal is to give you an unparalleled experience, and that means dedicating the time that it requires, and going above and beyond the usual standard when necessary to make it happen.
If you are lodging at Kingfisher Inn, I will pick you up on the dock. Otherwise, I will pick you up on the water at a prearranged location. (I launch my boat is an a gated park, so I cannot have you meet me there.)
Since I am an FFF Casting Instructor, I am always happy to give you casting instructions during our time on the water. I try not to give unsolicited advice, knowing that the last thing you want is to be pressured while you're supposed to be relaxing and having fun. But if you ask, I will certainly comment on your cast. I sincerely believe that I can diagnose a cast almost immediately, and know that I can probably help you if you want it.

I will either pole you aboard the Stilt, or accompany you while wading. While you can see more aboard the boat, many of the fish have already seen you or the boat, and thus your chances of hooking an already-alerted fish diminish considerably. So it's always a trade-off. If you have a strong preference, I will certainly abide by that. Otherwise, I will make recommendations based on the conditions.
