Lower Laguna Madre Flyfishing Guide

Fly Fish the Laguna Madre

Welcome to the Lower Laguna Madre! If you love classic, clear unpressured waters, you will love the Lower Laguna––a hypersaline lagoon on the southernmost Texas Gulf coastline.

The LLM is a unique fly fishery in many ways. Indeed, it has been referred to as the least pressured, most available saltwater fly fishery in North America, and the "best there is" when decent casting skill, reasonable winds, and cloudless conditions converge. Please take a look at my slideshow, videos, and sample the articles on fly fishing for redfish and speckled trout on the Laguna Madre that I have published in national publications. I have also authored a memoir, Healing the Fisher King: A Flyfisher’s Grail Quest, concerning my experiences fly fishing for trophy trout on the "mother lagoon." If you are interested in obtaining that book, it is available here.

Not long ago, a well-known fly fishing guru came down and fly fished with me for several days. Toward the end of his visit, I said to him, "I often wish I had more time to fly fish in some of the places you have fished."

He smiled and said, "If I lived here, I am not sure I would ever leave home."

If you love sight casting in shallow, clear water, and seeing a horizon unmarred by buildings or boats, you will enjoy fly fishing the Laguna Madre. It's magical. Give me a call, or fill out and submit my
Inquiry Form. I look forward to talking to you!
